IBM Wants to Hear from You About Making IBM i Your Social Collaboration Platform

Well folks, IBM wants to hear from you!

If you're an existing or potential IBM i (or existing System i or iSeries) customer and you want to run all components of IBM Connections, IBM Sametime or Lotus Notes Traveler on your system, then fill out the little form on the left hand side.

Your responses will be forwarded to the appropriate product managers at IBM that are responsible for platform support.

  1. Excellent idea. I hope this Social Collaboration will be implemented before some serious restorations are made on iSeries platform.
I hope this Social collaboration platform will not be written in Java because, for now, Java is a time killer.

  3. Sean, let's just call them decision makers for Connections, Sametime and Lotus Notes Traveler. There's marketing, there's support, there's people involved in setting platform and product direction. There's folks on both the IBM i side and the Lotus side working with us to help IBM as a whole understand the issue. I'll post more in a blog post in the coming days as an update.

Hello John, I have an old 9406-170 that is no longer on support. Most likely the disk is wiped and this would cost
to repair it to bring it online and usable. But knowing IBM as a previous developer, and the fact that most customers are clueless on the total cost of ownership, it would be good for the public to see a projections of what it would cost for a span of a year, five years, and ten years a comparison for a small business to set up let's say an on-line business. Take that as a step in aiding customers to compare with the server market that the IBM Power Systems are pitted against. Let me know if you have that.

  7. There are plenty of TCO studies published for both IBM i and Power Systems.
